Maya & Peter — Wedding at La Finka 4.1, Barcelona

There are venues that work with you. La Finka 4.1 is one of them.

I photographed Maya and Peter's wedding on a warm May afternoon just outside Barcelona — my first time at this venue, and one I won't forget easily. The gardens shift from Mediterranean stone to bamboo forest to open lawn. The light, in the late afternoon, does something extraordinary between the pine trees.

Maya got ready at Hotel Arrey in Alella, quietly, away from the noise. The dress she was putting on was hers in every sense — she designed and made it herself. By the time she walked toward the ceremony, the garden was full but somehow still felt intimate — the kind of setting where people actually look at each other instead of the surroundings. A Swedish groom. An Iranian bride. Two cultures, two families, one garden in Barcelona. Weddings like this don't happen often — and when they do, they carry a particular kind of beauty. The details, the rituals, the way love finds a common language between worlds that have never met before.

The ceremony carried more weight than most. Maya's family couldn't travel from Iran to be there, but they found a way to be present — through messages that stopped the room. Those moments were the kind you don't direct. You just hold still and let them happen. After that, it was theirs. We wandered through the gardens before the light disappeared. And when the music started, Maya danced like the night belonged to her. It did.

None of this happens without the people behind it. Mireia and Andrea, the wedding planners at La Finka, ran the day with the kind of calm that only comes from genuinely caring about what they do. Every member of the staff made you feel like this wedding was the only thing that mattered that day — because for them, it was. Spaces like this are built by people like that.

By the time the string lights came on, the night felt earned.
